Shannons Supercar Showdown returns to 7mate in 2013 for its 3rd series!

A change of garage this season to Ford Performance Racing, brings with it a host of new twists and turns that will see 8 rookie drivers hit the starting grid to battle it out under the watch of Ford Pepsi Max Crew stars, Mark Winterbottom and Will Davison.

In an exciting new twist, this year's showdown pits Frosty v Davo, who will each mentor 4 drivers through the TV series in their roles as team captains.

So far six out of eight contestants have been revealed for the starting grid with backgrounds from Go-Karting, Formula Ford and Formula 3 to V8 UTES.

The 24 year old Brit has not raced a full season in 3 years and is desperate to get back behind the wheel. After a successful junior career in motocross and karting, Chelsea made the move to Formula Ford aged 15. Although she may be the youngest rookie, when that helmet goes on Chelsea is as tough as her male competitors.

Todd started a very successful junior karting career at the tender age of 7, before moving up to Formula Ford and now Formula 3. He is backed by his incredibly supportive family, who hold weekly fundraising events to help make ends meet. A Ford fanatic with dreams of racing professionally, winning this competition would mean the world to Todd.

While Tim's driving ability shone as he moved up through the ranks, ultimately a lack of finances stopped him from progressing further than the Formula 3 category. After a few years of racing sporadically, the 31 year old has put everything on the line to race a full season in 2013. Tim's work as a driver coach also keeps him connected to the motorsport world.

Will it be one of these 6 that take away the opportunity of a lifetime? A testing contract with V8 Supercar team Ford Performance Racing.

    Series 3 returns to 7mate September 14th.
