I wouldn't call myself a try hard.
As you know I love my Ferodo DS3000's
and yes I have been guilty as charged in saying stopping distance is also controlled by tyres. I still believe that and that it's a combination of both, for example I easily lock the fronts on the Ferrari with the DS3000's with the XWX's, and yet with the R tyres they don't lock as easily which to me says the tyre must make a difference.
We're all here to learn so am happy to be corrected.
