One of the world?s biggest and most famous sporting events, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, is fast approaching and on 18 & 19 June, and hundreds of thousands of motorsport fans from all around the world will witness the 84th running of the jewel in the crown of endurance racing, the third round of the 2016 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC).
This is a special year for organisers of the event, the Automobile Club de L?Ouest (ACO), who celebrate 110 years of existence! Alongside them for 62 of those amazing years has been Motul as a loyal and forward-thinking partner, a relationship that was cemented earlier this year with the announcement that the leading performance lubricant specialist has been appointed as official lubricant partner to the WEC and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

This year?s twice-round-the-clock event, which gets underway at 3pm on Saturday 18 June, will for the first time in many decades feature 60 cars on the grid, and the level of competition among each and every one of the classes will be intense. Who are the favourites to win? The list is long and varied!
Whoever the eventual overall winners will be, we can be sure that they and the victors in each of the classes will have taken on and conquered many considerable technical hurdles on their path to success ? just as Motul has done at Le Mans ever since 1954.
This long-standing expertise and passion for the event this year sees Motul supporting no fewer than 10 teams, many of which have experienced considerable success at Le Mans in the past: SMP Racing, Pegasus Racing, Eurasia Motorsport, Greaves Motorsport, Thiriet by TDS Racing, Murphy Prototypes, RGR Morand and Krohn Racing in LMP2, and Larbre Competition and Clearwater Racing in LMGTE Am.
Apart from these specific partnerships, Motul will have a further involvement in LMP2 as 20 of the 23 entries in the category will be Nissan-powered and running a special experimental lubricant developed by Motul in association with NISMO in Japan. The lubricant of choice for the GTE cars comes from the famous Motorsport Line, the high performance 300V, which uses EsterCore? technology and is equally available on the shelves
for public purchase.
For a third consecutive year, Motul will also be a key partner in the fan-based Grand Drivers Parade through the centre of town on Friday evening before the race. Taking place in front of massive crowds of more than 150,000, Motul ? in partnership with Brabus ? will use the occasion to unveil, as a world premiere, the world?s fastest and most powerful four-seat cabriolet, the BRABUS 850 6.0 Biturbo Cabrio.
