Things to remember:

1. Multimeter must be in DC mode.
2. Place red lead on positive post, black lead on negative post
3. Note the voltage and compare to Odyssey Charging Chart
4. Red lead must be plugged into the volt side (as per the pic)

Voltmeter Reading State of Charge
12.84 Volts or higher 100%
12.50 Volts 75%
12.18 Volts 50%
11.88 Volts 25%

4. If the voltage is below 12.6 then the user should give the battery a top up charge and check the voltage of the alternator. This would apply if the car is driven often as the alternator should be enough to keep the battery charged. If the car is driven very infrequently, customer needs to check for parasitic loads or other causes for the lower voltage.

5. Check the alternator by turning the car on and placing the leads on the battery and the voltage should be a minimum of 13.8VDC. If the voltage is below 13.8VDC then the alternator is not putting enough voltage on the battery to keep it charged and would need to be looked at by a qualified technician.

6. Odyssey batteries all come with an owner?s manual in the box and it is highly recommended that customers keep this manual as it has a lot of useful information in relation to the battery.
