    US government stimulus package.

    Everyone gets $1,000.

    Big fucking deal.

My staff get paid that per week. If they get laid off for 8 weeks.... who is going to pay the other $7,000??

Its getting manic because of social media, the Chinese virus will eventually be controlled, life will be different however if you run a business with staff this will be an opportunity to get rid of the dead wood and once high unemployment hits you will be able to get the right person rather than the dregs that live on seak.com.au

I never noticed how stupid people can be. Just kidding, that's the first thing I notice. Unless they're ugly. You can't miss ugly.

Every small business is forced to close down and everyone is locked in their house for 4 to 8 weeks. Think about this, every cafe, restaurant, hairdresser, nail shop, massage parlour, real estate agent, retail shop, gyms, play centers, theater, church, synagogue, car dealership.... basically everything!!

The sheer loss of jobs for staff and the financial loss to business owners is simply unheard of.

We have gone from being very carefree about this situation to a total Apocalypse!

No more travel, no school for the kids, no anything aside from essential food or medical shopping.

Governments worldwide are telling renters they don't have to pay rent and won't be evicted.

This will be the most destructive recession the world has ever seen.

Hang on to your hats! This is totally fucked for the economy and it will make the GFC look like a walk in the park.
    Nail on the head.
We are already cutting heads and have further contingencies.
Unless the Government come in and guarantee some level of employee wages we simply can not keep people on.

We have the opposite problem ATM, we are doing 3 times our normal script volume every day - without the staff levels to cope. Out of stocks of critical life saving drugs are going through the roof and it is getting really ugly dealing with a hyper stressed public. You have severe asthma? That's a shame, almost every drug including ventolin is unavailable.

My son has asthma so we stocked up on ventoline, flixotide and prednisolone about two week ago because we could see this occurring.

What's going to happen with public transport? Buses and trains routinely have 50+ people jammed into them in peak hour

Wise move as it turned out, I am not sure what is going to happen as so far we haven't had new stock come in when a line goes out of stock. Ventolin and flixotide went out days ago.

People with BMI at 40+ also have more severe symptoms if the contract CV (https://www.worldobesity.org/news/co...g-with-obesity).

A virus that affects people who use the health system the most eg the elderly and obese. Hmm...

So today alone, I sold over 50 laptops. Mostly to businesses building up for workers to work from home.
Overall our store sold I think close to 200 with some commercial deals. Business is amazing. For now. I cleared 2 weeks worth of commission today alone.

nobody is going to get rich now because industry and the economy is stopping, but those with the means will make a lot of money tomorrow.

scary bit of trivia I learnt today

There are only about 2000 respirators in Australia. If COVID-19 goes out of control, doctors will have to decide who will live and who will die.

Yeah the government purchased an extra few hundred this week. But a drop in the ocean.

This may be an unpopular statement when I say it. But this is one of those situations that happens every few generations that the world needs to rebalance, unfortunately survival of the fittest is a thing and the weak will die. I'm not being a jerk by saying it but it's a reality

My brother has made 200% on his money over the last 10 days or so.

I on the other hand am around 18% down.

    Coronavirus

    Just heard on the ABC

The virus is multiple times more contagious than the flu
The death rate is multiple times higher than the flu
The numbers for the virus are presently low in Australia but if it spreads the above applies.
    Hence the panic I guess.

    Just think about it.

Recession comes from people not spending money and the only way to get out of a recession is to kick start the economy with spending.

You can't buy anything! Shops and small businesses are closed.

The big question is.... how long will this quarantine period last for?

2 weeks and everything will find a rhythm again

4 weeks and it will be hard.

6 weeks and shit gets really ugly

8 weeks....... I don't want to even think about it.

Our kids school is not going back until the end of August 2020.
You are correct mate. 4 weeks tops before the hell really starts. Hence why I feel 4 weeks maximum and governments will just need to deal with the deaths of the elderly
