you may as well use a neutral detergent to break down the fatty outer layer of the virus and render it useless

Also take care of the aircon in the vehicle ....the bugger can live in there for 9 days

I never noticed how stupid people can be. Just kidding, that's the first thing I notice. Unless they're ugly. You can't miss ugly.

Response on FB a to question as to why the Commonwealth acts differently to the states on the virus -

"Pastor Smoko relies on the evangelical spirit voices in his head to guide him, the others listen to the professionals"

I've had a pretty shit year which has prevented me from going to the gym, so monday my gym shut anyway. Today I decided to join an outdoor fitness group....and now gatherings of more than 10 are forbidden.....lets see what the fitness group does.

I imagine the gathering of 10 people will affect building sites.

Get some gym gear at home, you donít need much to get into shape, also you can employ a PT they are still allowed to have one on one sessions.

Power rack with cables + barbell + weights = gym. Winning.

I'm making do with kettlebells at the moment. Not ideal but not terrible either.

I have rowing machine, kettle bells, skipping rope, speed ball and punching bag - but some social interaction when training is always nice.

Interesting Melb Uni article about the maths of the two options - flatten the curve (to get to herd immunity) vs eradication.

Do you really have faith in the other clients they see before you? I cancelled my 1:1 PT sessions last week for this reason.

If the gym were open I’d go, now I am training at home by myself.

I am a very positive person I do not buy into the paranoia and I certainly wouldn’t let it rule my life, I’ve been through a lot worse.

Has anyone here been looking at re-tasking their workforce and/or equipment to respond to the medical equipment shortages we're very rapidly about to encounter here in Australia?

My sister is a research geneticist at Murdoch Uni in WA who has just been asked to register for ER duties, and I've been talking to her about their shortages of everything from ventilators to simple face masks and shields. There are a growing number of initiatives overseas, especially in Spain and Italy, where people are 3D printing medical equipment to help supply some of those items, and we're trying to figure out how to coordinate that type of response here (or find out if others are already doing so).

We're particularly interested in building these MIT-designed ventilators that use common manual resuscitators, some 3D printed parts and some assorted crap from Jaycar:

Here in Canberra we've got an office full of rapid prototyping equipment and some staff whose work is starting to drop off as clients shut their doors and wallets so we're in the perfect place to switch focus to something like this for the next few months. I'm trying to coordinate a similar activity in Perth (I've got a potential space lined up and someone to coordinate the manufacture, just need to sort out getting some 3D printing equipment and supplies over there and figure out how to cover the costs of the space).

If anyone is doing something similar in their own industries or has any Government contacts for anyone who might be coordinating these types of efforts on a larger scale I'd really appreciate sharing notes.

This type of initiative/support is being coordinated at a state government level (Mostly via Departments Premier/Cabinet/Chief Minister). Unfortunately i don't have any ACT contacts but I would suggest that you contact the ACT - Innovation , Industry and Investment in the first instance.

    https://www.business.act.gov.au/contact_us

I also know that the States are asking the ICN to identify companies who can re-position and provide support.

    https://icn.org.au/contact_us

    Good luck.
