From side picture I'd not pick that from an M3!

Limited by taste perhaps? Looks like it is painted in undercoat only

Certainly an acquired taste! They're charging an extra ?19,500 for it though, you'd wanna be keen on it to pay that much

Car seems like a rocket - can't wait to see this and the E63 S in a comparison.

If the finish is perfectly matched across the car (I doubt it) then it's not all that expensive compared to the prices of special paints from exotic manufacturers.

From what I've seen the quality of the "special" paints from BMW and Mercedes is very ordinary.

    How generic looking!

    I like the seats though.

I agree, it looks very bland. The only M5 that ever had my interest (and still does) is the E39 M5.

Totally agree. E39 and E46 are pinnacles.

I missed out on the E39 M5 (had a 540i which I liked though), so got an E60 which I didn't enjoy. It was a weapon when wound up but was crap in town. I bought an S65 on the rebound and much preferred it. Then bought the F10 M5 which was a superb high speed tourer but dull and characterless in daily use. I'll look at the new car but I'm not too hopeful.

Mr Chris Harris seems to LOVE the new E63S. There's a vid on the topgear website. Wish the wagon was still on sale here.
Better looking car than the M5 externally. Inside Merc is very nice, but the new M5 looks just as good. Twin test will be interesting.

Harris is entertaining but his is the last opinion I'd want for a sedan. I drank the Kool-Aid when I ordered the F10 on the strength of reviews. I won't do that again.

Interestingly the E39 540i's are starting to go up in price. One guy is demanding $40k for a silver one (dreaming) but there was a lovely 540i Sport that sold earlier this week in Adelaide... Topaz Blue with Beige trim, 110,000km, in pristine condition for $22k.

E39 M5's are already at collector status and prices are starting to show that.

I think there'll be a Competition Package version of this F90 M5 in the next couple of years. If they do, that will be the one to get IMO. BMW did this with the E46 and E92 M3's, did it with the F10 M5 and F12 M6, and the Comp versions have been a big boost to the current M3/M4 range. Gut feel is there'll be a M2 Competition soon

They said this M5 would have 450kw yet it "only" has 441... I expect the Comp to have 450+. It'll probably be the car BMW should've built from the start.
