The Porsche 911 (996) was a radical departure from the previous generation, with an all new design inside and out. Only the gearbox and suspension design was retained, but the rest updated the 911 to the 21st century. The force-fed flat six of the 911 Turbo was now watercooled and featured four valves per cylinder. Its all-wheel drive puts all 420hp down with ease, and yet retains the signature Porsche steering feel. The raked back windscreen, sleek profile and teardrop headlights removed the last vestiges of Volkswagen Beetle?s genes. All this combined meant that this modern, everyday supercar could cruise at 190mph on the Autobahn all day every day.
