PRODUCT DATA
CASTROL RADIATOR CORROSION INHIBITOR (http://www.castrol.com/castrol/multipleproductsection.do?categoryId=8000018&conte ntId=7000401)

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Castrol Radiator Corrosion Inhibitor is a chemically balanced corrosion inhibitor supplied
in concentrated form. It should be diluted with water for use in engine cooling systems.

Castrol Radiator Corrosion Inhibitor is a clean green liquid, which forms a clear,
fluorescent green solution when dilute with water. The solution is stable under prolonged
high temperatures and does not foam under the conditions existing in a well-maintained
cooling system.

PRODUCT FEATURES AND BENEFITS
Castrol Radiator Corrosion Inhibitor gives you these benefits and advantages:
Features Benefits:

Convenience
Supplied in a 200 mL rip top can

Suitable for most systems
May be used in cooling systems made from cast
iron and aluminium, or may be used with radiators made from either brass or aluminum.
Designed not to harm rubber, plastic or other synthetic materials used in cooling systems.
Inherently non-foaming: therefore helps reduce the risk of boil-over.

Easy to use
Mixes rapidly with water to form a fluorescent green solution, which is easy to identify. You
always know if Castrol Radiator Corrosion Inhibitor has been added to the cooling system.

Helps reduce motoring costs
Provides long term cooling system corrosion protection with the potential to reduce your
motoring costs. Unopened cans of Castrol Radiator Corrosion Inhibitor may be stored for
extended periods (two years). Only 2.5% v/v is needed in most systems to provide up to 12
months continuous protection. Maintains system cleanliness. When used as directed, Castrol
Radiator Corrosion Inhibitor is designed to assist in maintaining engine cooling systems in a
clean condition and free of sludge and corrosion deposits, which can cause radiator blockages
and costly engine overheating.

Proven corrosion performance
Conforms with corrosion requirements of Australian Standard 2108 (1984)

Treatment Rate
Castrol Radiator Corrosion Inhibitor should be used at approximately 2.5% v/v in water.
For convenience, the use of one can (200 mL) for 4-cylinder cars and two cans (2 X 200 mL)
for 6- and 8-cylinder cars, will give the required concentration. Do NOT use below 2.0% v/v
or above 4.0% v/v.
Note: Contains Ethylene Glycol

Water
Good cooling system corrosion protection begins with the correct choice of water used.
Castrol Radiator Corrosion Inhibitor is designed to be used with good quality drinking
water.

Results of analysis of many sources of mains water indicates that it does not comply with the
recommended minimum water quality level specified by many engine manufacturers. ?Rain
water? collected from clean rooves and stored in clean tanks is usually of accepted quality.
Distilled or deionised water is preferred and highly recommended.

DO NOT USE BORE WATER.

How to Use
1. Flush the cooling system
2. After flushing, add water to the cooling system until half full. Add the required amount
of Castrol Radiator Corrosion Inhibitor and then top up to level with water
3. Run the engine with the heater ?ON? until the cooling system has reached operating
temperature

Change Period
Under ?normal? driving conditions, change Castrol Radiator Corrosion Inhibitor every
12 months. In ?faulty? engines or engines with a build-up of old corrosion deposits, it may
be necessary to change more frequently. Change yearly or when the coolant solution loses
its yellow/green colour (whichever comes first).

Precautions
Use Castrol Radiator Corrosion Inhibitor at the recommended treat rates. Do not overdilute
or over-concentrate.

Do NOT mix Castrol Radiator Corrosion Inhibitor with other proprietary corrosion
inhibitors, cleaning aids or radiator sealants.

Do NOT mix Castrol Radiator Corrosion Inhibitor with any anti-freeze or anti-boil
compounds.

Castrol Radiator Corrosion Inhibitor should only be mixed with suitable water.
Note: Castrol Radiator Corrosion Inhibitor is compatible with Castrol ?Type P?
Antifreeze.
