Rapid advances in automotive technology these days means that car engines are increasing in efficiency, but are also becoming more powerful than ever. That means that there needs to be an engine oil that can live up to the demand of today?s high performance engines. Thankfully Motul has engineered Sport 5W-50, a fully synthetic high performance engine oil featuring Ester technology.

Suitable for a range of automotive applications, including naturally-aspirated or turbocharged engines powered by petrol or diesel, it provides outstanding engine performance and thermal stability even in the most severe and demanding driving conditions.

Synthetic, Ester-based engine oils contain no contaminants, which increases their lubricity and reduces the occurrence of engine sludge. They also remain stable at very high temperatures when conventional oils begin to break down, and remain fluid at very low temperatures when conventional oils will thicken. Motul Sport?s 5W-50 allows excellent oil flow into the engine, fast oil pressure from cold and fast progression throughout the rev range. This has the benefit of reducing wear as well as helping to maintain a more efficiently-running engine.

Motul Sport is also suitable for engines producing medium-to-high fuel dilution. Dilution is where unburned fuel accumulates in the engine crankcase. Problems often found in high performance engines such as excessively rich fuel mixture, incomplete combustion, or situations where fuel is injected at the extreme pressures allows fuel to pass down and dilute the engine oil. Dilution is particularly a problem with tuned engines running Ethanol or E85.

The specially-formulated Ester-based composition in Motul Sport ensures maximum horsepower and torque output, with protection against wear for engines operating across a wide range of RPMS and temperatures.

Properties:

Viscosity Grade 5W-50
Density at 20?C (59?F) 0.845
Viscosity at 40?C (104?F) 107.1 mm2/s
Viscosity at 100?C (212?F) 17.9 mm2/s
HTHS Viscosity at 150?C (302?F) 4.5 MPa.s
Viscosity Index 186
Pour Point -45?C (-49?F)
Flash Point 244?C (471.2?F)
TBN 8.4 mg KOH/g

The American Petroleum Institute (API) performance level of SM translates to improved oxidation resistance, improved deposit protection, better wear protection and better low temperature performance over the life of the engine oil.

Having a high HTHS of 4.5 and moderate TBN of 8.4 delivers excellent resistance to acids and provides the ultimate protection against fuel dilution.

Plus, Motul Sport 5W-50 is perfectly compatible with the latest generation of engines requiring an engine oil of API SM/CF specification, and can be mixed with any synthetic or mineral-based Motul engine oils.
