Have they arranged to park on the grassed areas or just finding parks in the street?

So Auzrun is run and done for another year. A very successful event that included some really nice cars, and some amazing people. It was quite a contrast to the previous prelude event, obviously with a much larger pool of entrants. 3 lambos, 4 ferraris, 5 porsches and a bunch of other powerful sports cars made up the group.

i spent most of the trip between a black porsche s and the orange gallardo SL. as was expected, groups split up over the longer drives, meaning arrival times were all over the place, but this didn?t phase us, as we had a great time. a group of us stopped at the 12 apostles and decided to jump in a helicopter for a joy flight..... the QSC boys even got to put their stickers on the helicopter... :D

The fundraising side of the event was quite successful, raising over $40k in donations and the auction.

The event went like this...

Tuesday night - Party @ Star city casino with the Potbelleez Playing
Wednesday - Drive from Sydney to Melbourne
Wednesday night - Bowling/drinks @ crown casino
Thursday - Calder park raceway - make a wish event - drive to Torquay
Thursday night - Make a wish fundraiser party
Friday - Great ocean road to Adelaide
Saturday - Skidpan/motorkhana @ a private warehouse
Saturday night - Private party @ the royal with dj kronic

I am still going through the thousands of photos I took over the trip, but i have randomly grabbed a few for a gallery

There weren't really any bad bits, everyone got along, had fun and were responsible. No one drove dangerously I think there was only 1 speeding ticket the whole trip and that was only 135/110.

The boring bits were the long freeway stretches..... But we stopped and took detours the whole way so we kept it interesting.

The track day at Calder park wasn't very full on like the eastern creek one in march, but the make a wish kids had so much fun which was rewarding.

The GOR was fantastic, awesome weather not much traffic made it a great leg, even though it took us 16hrs!!! :)

Skidpan day was awesome, although only 7-10 of the 30 cars got on the 'track'. I had a drive at the skid pan which was good fun.

Although we had a prelude in march, this was the first major event, and it went off without a hitch. I'm looking forward to the next run which you all should come along too. Melbourne to coffs harbour.

Thanks for the shots Dave! As always, great work with the camera and glad you got to enjoy the last day with a bit of fun in one of the cars ;-)

More shots are to come (right Dave?)as well as over 250GB of video footage that is being edited as we speak set for release just before X-mas (in a DVD format) with a few small previews before then ready for your YouTube viewing pleasure. Check out the Auzrun facebook page for constant updates and or add me as a freind on facebook (Ross Scutts).

I did see this one clip that I thought looked pretty cool: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHKRrsqxPFg&feature=autofb on one of the entrants facebook pages and though I would put it up. Only shows the back half of the grid. I cannot wait to see all of the other footage.

A massive thank you must go to everyone on AE that have given the idea the support it needed to succeed, especially Ash and David K. Thanks guys.

We raised $44,762.15 for the Make a Wish foundation
Assisted 29 entrants (62 people) have an amazing week
Put on a great display at Star City, Crown, Torquay, unfortunately not Adelaide this year :-(
Had 7 Kids and their family's from the Make a Wish foundation come out to the track day at Calder park (brothers, sisters and mums and dads of the kids also came out making it 30+ strong from MAW alone),
Destroyed one complete set of tyres (you'll see this footage soon no doubt - And it was on private property at the Gymkhana day before anyone asks)
Brought together a group of like-minded people who work their asses off for their toys and lifestyle (and gave them a place they could enjoy them in the company of other like-minded people)
And gave that group a place to enjoy their cars at some of Australias best locations!

Mission accomplished for this year I think and now back to the drawing board to make next year bigger and better for every entrant that participated...

Next year we are running from Melbourne (launch night is on August the 2nd), departing Melbourne on the 3rd traveling to Sydney, then up to Coffs Harbor on the 4th, then to the Gold Coast on the 5th and finishing up at Noosa on the 6th. We will be having 2 track events (NSW and QLD), 5 parties and one TOP SECRET surprise/event!

The plan is to cap next years event at 40 entrants still keeping it manageable and giving all the entrants a chance to get to know one another.

Yes. Such great guys, they came over from WA and run Tech 9 Tyres... Both the wagon and the Malloo had troubles from the get go and wanted to let off some steam on the last day... So they did! Should be on youtube by the end of the night...

Not sure if you've seen the GTR drifting and the IS-F drifting in the warehouse in adelaide... Was a bit of fun also:

The IS-F is just pleasure to drive... Put a few little bits and pieces on it and it's amazing! I love it!.

Thanks MHH... It was what we had planned and hoped it was going to be. Next year will also be a lot of fun. 11 more cars and a few extra things! Will upload some info when I have the chance and have extended the opportunity to past Auzrun entrants first.

I think the adult schoolies crowd is actually what theyre looking for ... its a party event.... so I dont have a problem with them promoting it that way, thats exactly what they want.... From what I can see the Auzrun guys have built the run around a love of cars, driving and clubbing ...

maybe if they do well with Auzrun they could put one on for those that arent into clubbing as well. Run 2 events a year. Im sure they would get enough entrants for both. The mature, more professional crowd would like an event like this as well, just not based so much about being a party crawl.

I think you are right. Either way, the Auzrun guys deserve praise for getting the first event away. Party boys or not, persuading owners to drive their exotics that distance took some doing!

One thing I particularly liked was the fundraising side of it. That gave the event a reason for being beyond having a good time.

Im into that ..... Ive done 3 major events for Make a Wish so I was pretty happy to see their name on the cars.

Last time I saw their office in Melbourne it wasnt flash and they had second hand furniture. Theyre more into working to make things happen for the kids than living the life like some charities.
